My first meet, i’m swimming unattached, i need advice?

Here are 4 questions rolled into one, enjoy!

1. would plain oatmeal with raisins be a good breakfast? (i’m swimming the 50 free, that’s it)

2. i’m swimming unattached, and i’m wearing a blue speedo bathing suit with green stripes around my sides (if you’ve been to Kohl’s, they have this suit all the time in the girls 7-16 section) could i get disqualified for that? Does it matter what my swimsuit looks like if i’m unattached?

3. is it true not to have dairy before the meet?

4. i usually wear a hot pink swim cap(don’t laugh!) could i get disqualified for that? should i wear my purple one? or should i borrow a black one from my friend?

don’t worry about your attire as an unattached swimmer, just as long as it’s not a school cap or cap of another year round team. i’ve never tried oatmeal with raisins because i like neither…but i’m sure that is a good breakfast…i used to have eggs for breakfast. make sure you eat a few bananas and tomatoes. keep some yogurt or something handy. DRINK LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER. after each race, you need to warmdown (assuming there is a warmdown pool) . Before your race, concentrate on what you need to do. It’s business time. Clear your mind during the heat just before yours. the hardest part of your first meet is relaxing. Trust me, you’ll do fine. You just want to make sure you get some times on your first meet and from there on you set goals to improve. Don’t be too hard on yourself. THE BIGGEST THING IS TO NOT GET DISQUALIFIED. Make sure you do a flip turn and try to breath only twice on each length of the pool. The less you breath, the faster you’ll go. and the #1 problem most swimmers have is their legs. They never kick. So make that a priority. I hope you shaved because any hair has drag on it. For dinner tonight, eat like pizza or pasta.
