Which type of bathing cap/swim caps is best? Lycra? latex? or silicone? whats the differences?
silicone is smooth and silky and wont rip your hair out when you put it on. its more expensive than latex. however they tend to slide off your head while swimming.
latex is cheaper but it tends to pull on your hair when you put it on. however, it doesnt slide around like silicone. the rip a bit easier especially if they arent rinsed and dryed after practice.
Lycra is just like wearing a hair net. it creates drag. if you swim competetively, dont buy lycra. it defeats the purpose of a cap, which is to make yourself as “hydrodynamic” (not sure if thats a word) as possible.
i personally prefer latex, just because they’re cheap and dont slide.
